Volunteering with Miracle League of Milwaukee is a great way to gain experience working with children with diverse-ABILITY and to give back to the community.

Listed below are brief descriptions of volunteer opportunities with the Miracle League. To become a volunteer, please register through VolunteerMatters. From there, you'll be able to view our Volunteer Project Catalog for one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities.

Player Buddies
One of the most important elements of a Miracle League game is the "buddy" program. Each player is paired with a friend to assist them on and off the field during a two-inning game. 

Team Coaches
Help manage, coordinate, lead, and encourage selected team.  Serving as a team coach is a 5-week commitment. 

Help manage and officiate games. Responsible for overseeing the behavior and the safety of all players and their buddies playing baseball.

Team Parents
Assist coaches with team activities, and act as a liaison for the team. Demonstrates enthusiasm, love, and concern for each player and family. 

The announcer is the master of ceremonies. We need you to be fun and animated -the kookier the better! This is big time for these kids! 

Concession Stand Assistant
Helps Miracle League raise money by working the concession stands preparing food and serving drinks at Miracle League games. 

Miracle League of Milwaukee Board Member
A board member analyzes and provides feedback to ensure that the strategic vision and programs of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee are relevant to community needs, and the needs of our Miracle League participants and their families. 

Miracle League Intern
Under the direction of the Product Director of Sports and Rec and in accordance with Association policies, a Miracle League intern is responsible for aiding in the fulfillment of the Miracle League objectives of curriculum, program, and activities. The incumbent will be instrumental in helping lead to increased program participation throughout programs as well as a better understanding of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee by its participants, volunteers, employees, contributors, and the general public. An intern is also responsible for the safety of all participants and for creating a fun, safe, healthy environment. 

Volunteer FAQs

What's the minimum age to volunteer?

Do I have to come for both game times?
No, you can come for just one or you can come for both.

Can the entire family volunteer together? 
Yes! Although our preferred minimum age is 11, we do allow younger kids to volunteer with a parent.

Do I have to be vaccinated to volunteer? 
No, but if you are unvaccinated we are requiring masks for volunteers due to the high-risk nature of our athletes.

Do I need to know anything about baseball to volunteer? 
Not at all.

What will I be doing? 
We have a variety of roles from assisting the athletes on the field (player 
buddy), to pitcher, catcher, and concessions stand attendant.

How should I dress? 
Casual comfortable clothes and athletic shoes, you will be issued a BUDDY 
shirt upon arrival at the field.

How early should I arrive at the field? 
Minimally 15 min before your scheduled game time.
